The IBJ reports that Maple Crossing business Happy Brewing Co. is targeting October for opening. Owned by Gabriel Soukup, Happy Brewing Co. is located at 3902 N. Illinois St. in the 8,500-square-foot building last occupied by a grocery.

“I’ve been working on the building for a little over a year now, so I’ve gotten to know a lot of people there,” he said. “The community’s really starting to embrace us.”

Double 8 closed its doors in 2015 and Happy Brewing has been eager to relocate to Maple Crossing to help reactivate and transform this neglected commercial node.

Maple Crossing is a one-mile square area in the center of Midtown Indianapolis.  As a Great Places 2020 initiative, Maple Crossing is convened by Midtown Indy. The entire Great Places 2020 program is led by the Local Initiative Support Corp. The initiative is working to channel investments into five neglected Indianapolis areas to spur revitilization.
